Write on Jews of 6th century Arabia….read about them, I have heard that they weren’t considered part of mainstream Judaism….It’d be strange seeing Muhammad bashing judaism for beliefs(“Ezra son of god etc”) that only unorthodox jews held….there’s some book about it…misbelief something.

Thanks! That’s a good topic. Jews were definitely mentioned a lot in the Quran and that probably influenced the Muslim’s opinion of them in today’s society. I will do a little more research and write about that sometime next week.

      Check back soon!

First of all, you have started a very commendable project. My best wishes!

Please write about your observation of the behavior and thought of muslims towards kafirs. Thanks.

Thank you! I will definitely write about this topic, especially since I cannot come out as an ex-Muslim due to the hatred towards Apostates. Please check back soon.

      Thanks for the suggestion.

You should also share some of the more interesting books about Islam. And they need not be those crappy propaganda papers from Daniel Pipes and like. for instance, Muhammad’s people has no anti-Islamic agenda, it’s simple history and yet one gets an impression that Islam was a work of , as Hitchens put it once, ‘ an epileptic plagiarizing’ man. :) . Hadiths there will give you something to think about.
    take this as an example:
“I love three things: greenery, prayers and fair faces”…..and you get Islamic Jennah. 72 Hours and countless gardens.

    Hey,

Nice blog! I was wondering if you could bring up the topic of ‘Muslim women can never marry non-Muslim men’ but ‘Muslim men can freely marry non-Muslim women’. I used to be a self-righteous pc thing and defend Islam, but this is one topic of many that bugs me. How can any society, let alone a secular multicultural society – allow such a community to be so violent in their objection to a possible mixed marriage? I think this is very dangerous, the whole idea of Muslim women not being allowed to marry a Christian just seems to be based around the ego and low-self esteem of Muslim men. By God there are probably texts in the Bible that do condemn homosexuality, but I think there is an idea amongst many Christians that actual criminality – stealing, rape or fraud – are far worse then loving someone – someone that may be your own gender.
Of the problems of interracial marriages in the US, Europe or Australia, there are previously held cultural notions of what should and should not happen, but once a mixed marriage does occur I don’t think you could say there is radical threats of violence. Sure there could be the odd grumpy look from someone on the train – but interracial couples would never come under the threats of a Muslim woman ‘betraying’ the miserable guy at the Mosque – by marrying a Christian man she met at University who just seemed to share her interests – nothing more nothing less. We’re now seeing a string of honour killings in Europe because of miserable Muslim fathers or brothers finding out that their daughter dared date or marry a follower of that evil evil Jesus.

    Thankyou.

I have a lot to say about this because I have first hand experience with this issue. It was one of the reasons I started doubting my religion. I wanted to marry someone but he was not Muslim and I ran into many problems with my family. This topic will definitely be on the top of my list.

      Thanks!

    Sarah,

Your articles are mind blowing. They are filled with so many details and at the same time they are short and witty.

I am Hindu by birth but I had no issues in questioning anything which I found odd since my childhood. I remained atheist/agnostic for most of my life. When I got into the meditation, I could tell the teacher that I do not believe in God and have strong views about our religion. He was so glad that I could speak what I felt and do not carry any burden. There were so many doubts and questions but absolutely there was no internal struggle.

On the Net, now we come across so many intelligent muslims who reason out and articulate their arguments so well on various issues. I wonder what kind of struggle they must be going through while justifying their religion. How do they stop themselves from applying their reasoning mind in case of religion? There must be a huge struggle going on in their mind because as I understand questioning about Islam is committing blasphemy. I always wonder how they deal with such struggle.

Would you like to write on that?

Thank you for the compliment Pravin :-) . I try to keep my posts entertaining because there is so much seriousness with this subject.

I think your topic suggestion is very interesting. Especially since there are a lot of educated Muslims out there. I think it comes down to the fact that they were so heavily indoctrinated. I was definitely one of them.

Another good topic I will be writing about soon!

      Hello Rohan,

Thanks for the comment. I actually wrote an article a couple of weeks ago called A Woman is Worth Half a Man in Islam where I talk about women’s inheritance, testimony and blood money. However, Taqiyya is a new topic and I will definitely add that to the list :-) .

Would you like take on Islamic scholars in a written debate like Alisina did?

      Hi Yusuf,

Hmmm… I am not sure I would like to do that. I can only imagine how frustrating that would be for me. Plus, even though I have a lot of knowledge about Islam, I don’t claim to be an expert. I am just a freethinker with some common sense :-) .

As an ex muslim it was always this hadith and associated hadith that bothered me:

1108. Narrated Abu Sa id Al-Khudri: On the Day of the (battle of) Autas, we took women captives who had husbands, The (the Sahaba) seemed to hold back from rapping them. Then Allah the Most High sent down regarding that: “And women already married, except those whom your right hands possess ((Surat Al- Ma’ idah verse 24))” Sahih Muslim also in Bulugh Al- Maram, Kitab Al-Jihad

Here Allah intervend to get his mujahids laid. Notice he didn’t intervene to say these poor women whos husbands, suns, and fathers had been killed in jihad, should be treated with kindness. Instead they are property to be dispossed as the mujahid seems fit. The only note that Ibn Hajar Al- Asqalani has is that it is good to wait until the have one menstration has passed. The logic being to know if a kid should be a slave or their own childern. Not only was Muhammed a rapist but also Allah.

    What do you think.

I completely agree with you! I slightly mentioned this Hadith in my “Slavery” article. It is just really sad that people actually follow someone who would promote such atrocities. And they even defend his actions! Mohammad and his god had absolutely no regard for human life as long as it promoted their religion… It is really disturbing.

    Thanks Sara.

I think if people understand that is was tragic little situations like this that make up the verses of the quran, then the whole thing falls apart. Far from being a book of wisdom. It was Mohammed thinking on a whim to give divine sanction to the actions of his band of robbers. I think you should put more vereses in context as the hadith explains them Some uniformed readers would pass over the verse without noticing what it means.
